A privacy-first social network
Most social networks keep everything you post on their servers indefinitely. Circlr is built the other way around: your phone is the main archive, and our servers keep circles only as long as they are needed to deliver them.
What stays on our servers, and for how long
- Posts and replies: 30 days on the free plan, then only on your phone.
- Stories: 24 hours.
- Direct messages: up to 48 hours, long enough to reach all your devices.
- Premium: your posts and replies stay in the cloud for as long as you keep Premium.
What we don’t have
Direct messages contain no text, links or files — only circles — so there is no message text to store. After 48 hours a direct message circle exists only on the devices of the people in the chat.
Watching older circles
When a post has left our servers, it can still be played directly from the author’s phone over a peer-to-peer connection while the author is online. The viewer’s app checks a fingerprint (SHA-256) recorded at upload, so it plays exactly the circle that was originally published.
Your controls
- Private account: only approved followers see your circles.
- Block anyone; hide people from your recommendations.
- Download all your data as a file, or delete your account at any time.
- Download your whole video archive as a ZIP from the app.
Safety still applies
Everything that is published passes through our servers when it is uploaded, for moderation and automatic checks of known illegal content. Privacy here means keeping less for less time — not skipping safety.
